Best Ways to Spend Sunny Days

Texas heat makes outdoor activities pretty unbearable. However, 'tis the season for cooler days before the triple digits takeover, so I'm taking advantage of all I can before it fires up around here. Below is a list of places to eat, recipes to cook, books to read, and things to do while we can still enjoy it all without needing AC.

Bake Allison Roman's Lemon Shaker Pie from sweet enough, invite friends over, and hang on the back porch.

Better Half Coffee & Cocktails for burgers and cocktails.

Rosedale Neighborhood Walk + Foxtrot - Stroll around the quaint neighborhood + grab a coffee at Foxtrot Market. Sign up for their monthly membership where you score a free coffee every month and order their Iced Hazelnut Latte.

Grab happy hour at P6 at The Line Hotel. Order the hummus, patatas bravas, and the Hill

Country Gold cocktail (bourbon-based with ginger).

Park at Flo's Wine Bar & Bottle Shop and then walk a loop throughout the surrounding Tarrytown neighborhood. When you get back to your car, grab a glass of Sancerre, a slice of Sweet & Spicy Sausage, and gelato with chocolate sauce, rainbow sprinkles, and pretzels dust.

The Violet Crown porch with coffee or wine + Monopoly Deal.

Explore the area around your office and walk there on your breaks! My office has Soup Peddler, Fresca's, Whole Foods, Anthropologie, and Book People nearby. Depending on the day, I do the following:

  • Fresa's - Half Kale Salad + La Fresa Taco

  • Soup Peddler - Half Grilled Turkey and Cheese with Cilantro Pesto + Tomato Soup

  • Whole Foods Market - I'll usually stop in and shop around to pick up anything I might need or a cup of coffee from La Colombe! They also have a great floral display, so a sunny day is made even better with fresh flowers.

Book a court at Austin Pickle Ranch and grab a drink at their on-site bar. My friend had her birthday party here and it was such a fun day! You can set up a tournament, casually play around, and hang in their lounge areas on breaks with incredible views of Austin.
