Growing up, I was never a cranberry sauce girl. Some may gasp at the thought, others agree. Whatever side you may fall, we all have an opinion on the condiment that (always) regardless of your liking, ends up on the holiday table.
True story- it wasn't until I was 23 that my world was changed by the addition of cranberry sauce to my perfect-ratio-of turkey-to-mashed-potatoes bite. Honestly, it's a game changer and my recipe has a wonderful hint of holiday. Enjoy!

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
Recipe
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
12 oz of fresh cranberries
1 cup of sugar
Juice from 1 orange
Zest from 1 orange
1 cinnamon stick
Scant cup of water
Mix cornstarch with equal amount of water, set aside once combined.
Heat cranberries, sugar, juice from orange, orange zest, cinnamon stick in a pot over medium heat. Stir occasionally for 15 minutes until most of the berries have bursted. (Tip: if mixture needs some more liquid, this is where you add your water!)
Once berries have bursted, remove cinnamon stick and add cornstarch mixture. Combine until thickened.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Transfer to a bowl, top with extra orange zest, and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
