The Ivy

The kind of place with perfectly shaped mimosa glasses that you wouldn't mind TMZ catching you in public with (hypothetically, if you were a celebrity)

Said perfectly shaped mimosa glass

Known for fresh flowers over brunch and iconic celebrity sightings, The Ivy is a must on a visit to Los Angeles. I'm not known for my spontaneity, but a week before my sister's twentieth birthday I booked a flight to surprise her on the west coast. After arriving and finding The Ivy on our itinerary, it really felt like MY birthday.

I'm not going to try to hide my lack of chill that weekend. I was an L.A. first timer and (though not for my spontaneity) I am know for my slight obsession with celebrities and being in the same zip code as any of them. Only thing better than actual celebrities? The restaurants where they eat.

The Ivy not only gave me my fix of being in the same place a Kardashian had once been, but the experience was lovely too. From scones to start on signature pottery (available for purchase) to a birthday dessert plate to finish, I left happy and with a staple checked off my bucket list.

Pottery & Scones

Purple's Picks

To start...Mimosas + an order of their delectable crab cakes (sadly, no photo because for the first time we ate before the phone)

To enjoy...If you're feeling classic I recommend the cheeseburger + a side of french fries or one of their gorgeous pastas with fresh ingredients

Tomato Basil Pasta & Cheeseburger with French Fries

And for dessert...in our case we had a birthday, (but) just say it's your birthday. they'll know what to do

No dessert plate is complete without a sparkler

Color Me Curious (Purple ?)

Next time I'll be going on a weekday for breakfast...their menu is ever-changing so there is no limit on what I want to (and will) try

Until next time,
